Things I wish I had known!

1. Motherhood is the hardest job you'll ever love.
2. Catheter removal after a spinal/epidural is...yikes. It hurt to pee for 8 days later. Wowza.
3. There is such a thing as night sweats after delivery. It sucks.
4. Always have burp cloths around the house---in spare bedroom, in nursery, downstairs by the couch. You'll always need one at the time when they're all tucked away in the closet.
5. Plan an easy escape if the little one throws a tantrum. This happened to me on Friday and we ended up walking outside of the mall in 20 degree temperatures because Lamb was SCREAMING.
6. Avent bottles suck. They leak all of the time. I wish I would have known this BEFORE I placed them in my new Kate Spade diaper bag. At least my bag is vinyl and washes easily. I will never spend a lot on a diaper bag again...even my big COACH bag will not see a bottle in it...EVER. We are using Dr. Brown's and they're great.
7. It's not about you anymore...it's all about the baby. But that's okay--whenever she receives a gift it's like it's also for the mom to enjoy too...I love it!

Things I Now Know as a Mom

1. Breast feeding is tougher than I thought. I've been doing it for 7 weeks already though! Pumping most of the time but feeding in the evening with her. I am so glad I took breastfeeding courses and read some books--they've helped out tremendously!

2. Getting ready in the morning is essential for a mom's well being. A few times in the early weeks I'd go without a shower but then when John came home I'd take one. I felt yucky the whole day from my lack of getting ready. It is so important to find time to shower and put on make-up if that makes you feel good. I put Lamb in her boppy and bring her into the shower with me.

3. I can fall asleep fast! Even at 3 am after a feeding once my head hits the pillow I am out. I've also learned to sleep sitting up, however I don't need to do that anymore! Lamb falls asleep in her crib now without me holding her.

4. Multitasking is an art. Learn to do it!

5. Sleep is HEAVEN. It will not be returning to my life (that is FULL uninterrupted sleep) for awhile so if you are pregnant now, enjoy!!

6. That I could never love someone as much as my child. I love you Lamb!!

Time has flown!

It has been so long since I have written in this blog~! My days are full of poo--literally! Ha ha...it's been an amazing 6.5 weeks so far. We've attended our first La Leche League meeting, a mom's group meeting, been to the mall sooo many times, and even been out to Chili's and other restaurants. Lauren loves being out and about.
