Things I wish I had known!

1. Motherhood is the hardest job you'll ever love.
2. Catheter removal after a spinal/epidural is...yikes. It hurt to pee for 8 days later. Wowza.
3. There is such a thing as night sweats after delivery. It sucks.
4. Always have burp cloths around the house---in spare bedroom, in nursery, downstairs by the couch. You'll always need one at the time when they're all tucked away in the closet.
5. Plan an easy escape if the little one throws a tantrum. This happened to me on Friday and we ended up walking outside of the mall in 20 degree temperatures because Lamb was SCREAMING.
6. Avent bottles suck. They leak all of the time. I wish I would have known this BEFORE I placed them in my new Kate Spade diaper bag. At least my bag is vinyl and washes easily. I will never spend a lot on a diaper bag again...even my big COACH bag will not see a bottle in it...EVER. We are using Dr. Brown's and they're great.
7. It's not about you anymore...it's all about the baby. But that's okay--whenever she receives a gift it's like it's also for the mom to enjoy too...I love it!

Things I Now Know as a Mom

1. Breast feeding is tougher than I thought. I've been doing it for 7 weeks already though! Pumping most of the time but feeding in the evening with her. I am so glad I took breastfeeding courses and read some books--they've helped out tremendously!

2. Getting ready in the morning is essential for a mom's well being. A few times in the early weeks I'd go without a shower but then when John came home I'd take one. I felt yucky the whole day from my lack of getting ready. It is so important to find time to shower and put on make-up if that makes you feel good. I put Lamb in her boppy and bring her into the shower with me.

3. I can fall asleep fast! Even at 3 am after a feeding once my head hits the pillow I am out. I've also learned to sleep sitting up, however I don't need to do that anymore! Lamb falls asleep in her crib now without me holding her.

4. Multitasking is an art. Learn to do it!

5. Sleep is HEAVEN. It will not be returning to my life (that is FULL uninterrupted sleep) for awhile so if you are pregnant now, enjoy!!

6. That I could never love someone as much as my child. I love you Lamb!!

Time has flown!

It has been so long since I have written in this blog~! My days are full of poo--literally! Ha ha...it's been an amazing 6.5 weeks so far. We've attended our first La Leche League meeting, a mom's group meeting, been to the mall sooo many times, and even been out to Chili's and other restaurants. Lauren loves being out and about.

5.5 Weeks Already

Boy has time gone by soo fast. Lauren is sleeping very well--through the night many times! I wake up to pump and then I check the crib and she is fast asleep. I usually just let her wake up naturally--they say never wake a sleeping baby! Lauren was 7 lbs, 13 oz on Sunday, so no doubt she'll be 8 lbs. in a day or two. She's starting to get soo big! Still in NB clothes though.

We've been to the mall, Target, Starbucks, and Chili's for lunch. She's amazing during the day---such a great sleeper and she's so quiet. But during her sleep she grunts a lot. So cute.

Tomorrow we are going to a La Leche League meeting...not sure what to expect but a girlfriend of mine wants me to go so I'll check it out. I am pumping mostly but she is breastfeeding too. We try about once a day and she latches on well. I like pumping better and when I go back to work she'll need a bottle anyway.

Ha ha! Today's Lauren's Due Date!

And she is 20 days old---three weeks tomorrow.

So funny to think I could still be pregnant today.

Thank GOD I am not!

Today is one of the last beautiful warm days of the year--it's about 75 now and sunny.

I took Little Lamb for a walk this afternoon--her first stroller ride. I got the Peg Perego out and it is awesome. Love the stroller.

Our Birth Story

On Thursday, September 18th I had a regular appointment with my OB as well as a biophysical profile (u/s) due to my chronic hypertension. I was going in twice a week for NST’s at that time and it was getting a little old, especially when I’d have to have an ultrasound afterwards due to “failing” the test. (Sometimes my 30-minute appt. would last over 3 hours.) At my 9/18/08 appointment, the tech tried very hard to get an accurate measurement of the abdomen, head, etc. and said she was measuring behind. (I was not surprised since I have always been carrying smaller than average.) Behind meant that she was in the 27th percentile, with an abdomen measuring in the 8th. (This was down from a total of 39% from the previous two-week u/s.)

The OB then came in to my room, we made some small talk, and then she got down to business. She told me that the baby had to get out at 37w, as she was not gaining weight and nutrition from the inside of me. We scheduled a c/s at 9:30 AM on Monday, September 22nd, the first day of autumn. The doctor was on vacation all week but wanted to come in to do my c/s. What an amazing physician.

That weekend I cleaned, got stuff ready, and *tried * to relax. We had a nice dinner at our house on Saturday night, as Sunday I knew I’d be nervous and not want to eat a huge meal.

The morning finally came. I was tired but excited, as I didn’t sleep the night before. I was also starving since I couldn’t eat since the night before (but I managed to have some chocolate milk and a protein bar right at midnight!) Our trip to the hospital was uneventful, as we had to get there at 7:30 for our check-in. When we arrived, I filled out some paperwork, they took me to the OR prep area, and I was given my gown and my bed for the next few nights.

Changing into the gown made it a reality that in a few minutes I was about to have surgery. But I still thought of the end outcome, our little Lauren making her debut into the world. I wondered whom she would look like, my husband or myself. (Or would she have a combination of both of us?) I cried a little in anticipation as they drew blood, inserted my IV, and asked me who my Pediatrician was. I was going to be a mom in a few minutes!

The anesthesiologist came in and had along a nurse antestitist. (The nurse was nice but NOT a good provider.) I told him my concern (nausea) and he told me he’d make sure to put Zofran in my IV and then give me another product as soon as Lauren was out.

My OB came in, and the one thing I told her was that I wanted the surgery to be “like a typical day for her”—meaning I wanted the radio on, her to talk normally, and the environment to be very relaxed. She smiled and told me she’d make it happen.

I proceeded to the OR (cold!!) and got on the gurney and proceeded to get my spinal. That was the worst part of the entire delivery—not that there was pain, but the nurse anestitist could not find the proper location to numb me completely. The spinal which usually consists of two shots (a local and the spinal itself) took almost 12 minutes to get it in right—about 8-10 tries. My back was so sore and painful…the nurse must have been training or something. The main doc then tried and sure enough—he got it in the first try. Almost 10 seconds later my legs filled with numbness and the procedure commenced.

About 8 minutes later, Lauren Elizabeth made her way into the world, crying but crying so beautifully. She scored an 8 and 9 on her APGARS. She weighed 5 lbs, 11 oz and was 19.5 inches long. My eyes filled with tears as I kept calling (“My baby my baby!”) My husband got a little choked up too but his job was taking photos so off he went with that. The nurses cleaned Lauren, gave her eye drops, and weighed her all within my sight. Never for a minute was I sad that I could not hold her immediately. In fact, I wasn’t sad that my husband got to hold her first, as we had shared the moments of pregnancy together.

My OB sewed me up (took about 20 minutes), and then I was moved to my original bed and wheeled out of the OR to my recovery room. I got to hold Lauren for the first time. My mom, dad, and sister were walking around the hall when I saw them while being wheeled to my room. Lauren lay in my arms with her eyes closed and peaceful.

The nurse started taking vitals as I was holding Lauren and my family around me. I felt pain but was comfortable until I got the sweats—I was so hot and was using ice chips on my face and neck. I slept and felt better hours later. It was from my medication as well as my hormones rapidly changing.

The hospital stay was all right. My nurses were okay, but not as helpful as I thought. I had to track down Lactation myself and was so glad I did; I learned a lot from them. Breastfeeding has been hard since her latch is strong so right now I am exclusively pumping. I am getting great results and my husband can feed her so I am happy for that. I will try to BF again soon but right now both Lauren and I like this method better.

Recovery is good. It hurts, I won’t lie—but as long as you KNOW you will be in a lot of pain and realize it, you will be ready for it. My stitches look great and I can bend down to my toes now. It hurt to lie on my back in bed (also due to the bad spinal!) but every day gets so much better. My biggest pains so far have been from early cramping after delivery (like your worst menstrual cramps ever since uterus is returning to size) and pain from the catheter removal. Going to the bathroom has burned for a while!

I am struggling with being a mom AND keeping the house clean! I am a person that always wants things to be nice and neat especially when visitors come over. I have overdone it a few times this week by doing chores that were both unnecessary and not getting a lot of rest. REST IS KEY! It’s hard to nap during the day when taking care of a little one but my nights are getting better.

We are on a 3-hour feeding plan; 3AM, 6AM, 9AM, 12PM, 3 PM, 6PM, 9PM, 12AM. It of course shifts a lot but I know she’s getting the food she needs and is growing. She’s already almost up to her birth weight and I am sure she’ll pass her two-week check up.

I’ve been pooped on, peed on, and spit up on ALL in the first week! But it’s totally worth it, seeing your daughter look at you and her little noises and soft skin and smell just melt my heart.

Things I loved at the hospital: BIG suitcase for bringing stuff home, boppy, snacks for husband and me since hospital food was kind of gross, gowns since I could not stand pants and my sweating did not help that, TONS of water (I brought Propel.) I drank sooo much but it helped me recover and feel better. I didn’t need my makeup or hairdryer at all.

Overall, it was a sweaty, uncomfortable, emotional and hormonal experience but worth every minute. Spending time with Lauren this week has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love my husband more and more with our bond growing stronger every minute we take care of our little one together. Don’t get me wrong—we’ve had a few “moments’ during this week—but we really truly understand each other and our union will continue to grow with the addition of our children.

I'm Going to Be a Mom on MONDAY!

Wow, there's a surprise for me.

My u/s at the OB's office didn't go well. She's measuring SMALL still, now in the 27th or so percentile. That means that even though I am gaining weight for her, she is not thriving well in my body. The OB told me that she's taking her out once I hit 37 weeks, or full term.

That means our Little Lamb is being born on Monday.

I am thrilled, shocked, excited, scared at the same time. I have been waiting for this day for a very very long time.

But I'm still scared--she's coming 3 weeks early and although she'll be fully developed, I feel a little sad that my body has failed her a little.

I am going to *Nest* this week and get everything ready---grocery shop, relax, FINALLY GET MY PEDICURE (I won't be too tired!) and rent some DVD's for the hospital.

My c/s is scheduled at 9:30 AM and we have to be at the hospital two hours earlier.

Well, that's it for now! I'll post more very soon.

Too Tired for Pedicure

I can't believe I am saying that! I want to stay home!! But I need a pedicure sooo bad and I can't touch my feet.

Off to the nail salon it is, but I'd rather relax at home. But once I get there, I'll be in heaven.

BTW--I have feet sticking out of me right now---so cute! And hiccups. Those two things always make me smile.

Horrible Night

I had BH contractions last night from about 1-4 AM that were about 4-10 minutes apart. I could not sleep at all, John was up with me and he was timing them.

No worries though---baby still inside. But she stopped moving and that got me a little concerned.

Couch time today. Didn't go to Labor and Delivery but if this happens again, I definitely will go. I just saw my OB earlier in the day and was doing great and feeling like a champ.

I think I overdid it--I made three dinners---two to freeze for post-partum and cleaned out our kitchen cabinets, 2 loads of laundry, Target shopping, and grocery shopping.

I'm exhausted.

2 openings already?

...two recruiters contacted me already about opportunities--one in my field currently and one in CNS Specialty. One pays sooo well...my salary would DOUBLE, but training and stuff would be probably in November.

There pretty much is no way I can leave LL at home.

But at least my resume is out there and I am getting calls!

Maternity Leave Starts NOW!

...very unexpected for those of you who follow my blog.

On Monday I found via a 10AM teleconference that I have been laid off effective September 30th. I will not be entitled to FMLA or any types of benefits anymore since I am part-time. Our entire program lost our jobs, including my boss in OH and her director in ATL.

But it's okay. I had a bad day on Monday, yesterday I had a few contacts with recruiters who I've been in touch with before, and I am sure I'll find a new position. Today I woke up "excited" that I am ending one chapter but beginning a whole new one--our little girl's LIFE.

The key to all of this is timing--since I am 9 months pregnant on Sunday, there is NO WAY I am starting this search. But J and I discussed that this is a wonderful time to stay at home with LL and develop her routine (breast feeding, etc.) until I can resume work. My ultimate plan is to apply in November, interview in December, and start work in January.

Medical sales jobs are a dime a dozen. There is always a need for great sales reps. My experience in adverting and pharmaceuticals has prepared me for the next great opportunity.

Not sure where I'll end up, whether it'd still be part-time or full-time but I know that this opportunity will bless our family.

Here's to a fall filled with newborn memories---Halloween, Thanksgiving, and warm Christmas spirit--all at home and full of love.

My Latest Obsession

Of course it has to deal with food! I Love milk. I HEART milk. It has been my saving grace since 24 weeks. And when I feel like my stomach is getting a little acidic, one glass and I feel great.

Other things I LOVE this pregnancy are as follows--my Top 10 List!

10. Ice Cream (cookies n cream is my favorite right now)
9. Mini Chocolate Donut Balls (keep them in the freezer and have 1-2 daily)
8. Cinammon Rolls
7. Atlanta Bread (Greek Salad and Turkey Sandwiches)
6. Cookies (usually a combo of chocolate chip/peanut butter)
5. Diet Coke from a FOUNTAIN. I love fountain drinks.
4. Strawberries
3. Pineapple (have to watch heartburn though!)
2. Ice cream cake roll from Schwan's
1. MILK

Fall Weather is HERE!

So awesome. So comfortable too!

I spent a little bit of money yesterday buying fall scented candles and air freshener for our home. I picked out scents like spiced pumpkin and autumn sunrise. I LOVE the smell of Fall.

I am so glad it's here and then LL can come out and play soon!

Ahhhh.....FAILED again!

So LL let me down again this morning and I failed my NST. The nurse was sooo sad to deliver the news---she said that procedure is making her schedule the urgent u/s but that probably everything would be okay. Her heartrate dropped 4 times over the course of 30 minutes so it was inevitable that I would be going in for another BPP. (Biophysical Profile)

The only issue was that they were booked AGAIN so I had to wait 2 hours to get in. Again, I had to go to the hospital and not my OB office, but this time the radiologist was VERY awesome and even printed out more pictures. Poor LL, she is sooo head down and smushed against me that her face did not show in any pictures---so I got a nice "foot" photo! Her foot measures about 2.75" already! Can you believe that that is JUST her foot? No wonder why I feel like I have no room!

The radiologist also said "Whoa--looks like a lot of hair!" Our last u/s tech said that too---I am afraid she's going to need a hair cut after she is born. I talked to John and he didn't have ANY hair at birth and I had just a tiny little bit. Who knows where this is coming from. The tech did say that if hair shows up on the u/s it is usually dark and a lot.

I think LL is playing with her umbilical cord too much--when she rolls on it or moves it around the h/r falls but then goes back up again. They told me the cord is right in front of her--not around her neck or anything but that when she "plays with it" it causes the drop in heart rate.

So, today is our last day of 90+ weather. Tomorrow we will be in the low to mid 70's and I cannot WAIT! It has been a hot couple of days. I can't wait until I can wear jeans and sweaters!

Monday, September 1, 2008

Wow! Finally it's September!

And LL should be here before we know it. Good thing. I am starting to whine and annoy John. No, he's really not annoyed, but sometimes I tear up and tell him I can't wait to have my body back to myself. I enjoy sharing it but the physical symptoms are starting to wear on me.

It's been SO HOT the past Labor Day weekend that I haven't been able to enjoy it. I have to stay inside.

My next NST is tomorrow so wish me luck. Hopefully everything will be fine again.

Friday, August 29, 2008

Eugh...1st NST sucked.

So I had my first official non stress test. They took me to a quiet dark room with a nice overhead light so it was easy to finish my book that I brought. They gave me a pair of pink and blue straps that I have to bring in each time I have the test. I was hooked up and within minutes was able to hear LL's little heart beat. It was soooo cute!

Then, all of a sudden, I stopped hearing the rhythmic beat. Her rate went from 150's to 90. When the nurse came in to check, she took the strip of paper off the machine and went to talk to my OB. The nurse came back with a GIANT glass of water and told me to "chug it" as I was being scheduled for an urgent ultrasound to make sure Little Lamb was okay. (The water helps you have a full bladder and thus have a more readable u/s.) I had to go to the hospital portion and have an ultrasound.

The u/s tech could not tell me any information about baby but he did reinforce it was a girl. That made me smile. I had to wait then for about 30 minutes to get my results. The doctor came in and told me she probably rolled on her cord, as there was no cord around her neck and her movements were normal.

Whew. What a small scare. Especially for the 1st NST. And to think it's Friday and I have another one on Tuesday AND Friday of next week.

I know it's all worth it but spending 3 hours in the hospital when it was supposed to only be 20 minutes was a little long for me.

Now I'm going to lie down. This pregnancy consumes my entire life. But I keep saying "It's 100% worth it."

Bad Dreams

Eugh...I have had soooo many bad dreams lately! Last night I had a dream where I was running (I can't wait!) and this creepy guy tried to kidnap me!

I've had dreams where John was hooking up with beautiful un-pregnant women! Ha.

33 Weeks and Counting...

This weekend we celebrated our Anniversary by going to a pizza place out of all choices. We were planning on The Melting Pot but since I was craving pizza, pizza it was. And it was awesome.

Now that I am 33 weeks I feel a little slower in step. I had to stop and relax a little bit while at Target yesterday as my BH contractions began to come out of nowhere. I had John make dinner last night and it was delicious; grilled chicken on the grill and steamed fresh green beans.

I stopped and picked up mint chocolate chip ice cream on the way home from Target and it was excellent.

I was lying on the couch last night and all of a sudden, LL kicked REALLY hard. I mean, like a huge jab. I was dozing and said "Eugh..." and John sat up from lying on the floor. Her kicks are getting a lot more aggressive.

I can't believe we only have 6+ more weeks until she's here.

My New Pink Purchase

So I know this isn't the most practical baby item but I had to have it. And bonus---I found it gently used on Craig's List. I loved this pink travel crib and bassinet since before I was pregnant but didn't want to spend $90 for it. Now I have it for much cheaper and LOVE it! It is ready for John to set up this weekend!

32w4d Appt. and Growth Ultrasound

My sister came with me to my ultrasound this morning. It was really uneventful. We were able to see her practicing breathing, as well as putting her hands up to her face AND smiling! The tech took a great picture of her smiling so we have it. It's sooo cute! Lamb is about 4 lbs. and is in the 35th percentile; a little small still but in the normal range. My NST's start next week; I'll be going twice a week until I deliver. I told the tech I've had some bad heartburn recently especially with the Protonix and then she said that our little girl has TONS of hair! I have an ultrasound picture of her head of hair. Looks like I'm going to be buying some cute headbands!

2 Year Wedding Anniversary

I can't believe how much time has flown by. It seems so recently but it was a long time ago. J and I have an evening of "nothing" planned and it couldn't get better than that. (We'll go out for dinner probably this weekend.) I love just being with him and nothing can make me more happier than just being with him. We will be that old couple sitting on the the porch, talking every night. And that thought makes me so happy. I love being Mrs. John David Little.

32 Weeks

The countdown has begun. I am ready. My back hurts, it hurts to move around, and I'm just ready. Plus all of my maternity clothes are literally falling apart. My shirts from Motherhood are becoming unhemmed and I just found a small hole in the chest area of my black ruched t-shirt. How does that happen?! I guess it happens when you wear the same darn clothes every day.

Sigh. Now off for nursing bras and tanks.

Our Bjorn is Here!

My husband trying it on with a lamb stuffed animal in the nursery. Too cute for words. He is so ready. (He likes to go into the closet and look at all of the pink clothes too!)

Lots of Doctor Appointments Now!

I had a doctor's appt. this week and looking good. I guess I had a little spill of protein but my blood pressure was 124/76 so no concern. I am still measuring small; I was 30weeks4days at my appt. and my belly was measuring in the 28th week. I would have never guessed I'd be measuring smaller before I was ever pregnant. (My concern was that I'd gain 80+lbs and be as big as a house!) Guess not so far.

The not so hot news is that I have to go in a week for a growth ultrasound and then the following week I will be monitored on Mondays and Fridays (yeah, twice a week) for NST's, non stress tests. I will spend a lot of time driving back and forth to Theda Clark hospital but it's not too bad. I asked the nurse how full-time people can fit this all in to their schedule, and she replied that usually at this stage when you need twice weekly NST's, you are either part-time or not working at all. Hmm....so fortunate I have a flexible job and that I'm feeling great overall.

My high school friend just emailed me and at 35 weeks she's on bedrest due to preterm labor. She started contracting at 32 weeks. Wow. That totally scares me. I am 31 weeks tomorrow and to think that honestly at anytime now I can have our baby is a little scary. I forgot to mention that at the appt. this past week the nurse comes in with special discussions regarding pre-term labor, pre-eclampsia information (that's sudden extreme high blood pressure--we're talking 160/110+) and a few packets about my birth wishes/birth plan. I also scored two free diaper bags from various formula companies and to be honest, the black bags aren't that ugly. Well, speaking from the fact I am a COACH snob and that's all of the bags I have (well except now for a brand new Petunia Picklebottom clutch from my friend Megan! :)

This appointment really hit home that being pregnant won't last forever. In fact, it'll be over in about 7-8 weeks! (They don't want me going over so it looks like I'll probably deliver or at least be induced, etc. before October 12th, my original due date)

Shower this Weekend!

I can't believe my shower is this weekend! I am so excited to see everyone and have some fantastic food. We will be eating like queens. John and my dad and his dad will be there...good sports! They will have a chance to hang out at a pub next to the Champion's Club where the girls will be having the shower. I am registered at BRU, Target, and Walmart. I can't wait! I am helping my sister and mom with the decorations, and my MIL has done an AMAZING job planning the menu and day.

I can't wait for the cupcakes! We're having dessert served but the cupcakes are for the guests to take home.

Excellent Ultrasound!

We had an ultrasound today and everything looks great! The peri said she's 99.9% sure it's a girl still. Whew! Last time it was 95% but you just never know! I saw the three lines on the screen. I counted her toes---5 on each foot! Her position is head down already but the peri said she could flip at any time (which I hope doesn't happen since she's about 15" or so...) She is 2 lbs, 10oz. and is perfectly on schedule for myself being 28w4d pregnant.

We had a quick dinner at a cafe in Neenah called Zuppas, took a walk, and am now having a small bowl of ice cream. Did you know that Blue Bunny makes a fat free sugar free caramel ice cream? It's awesome.

Heartburn Diet Working!

...I have slept fairly well in the past two days...well besides having to go potty 4 times a night, and Koko wanting to take a bath (cleaning herself) right next to my head.

I am restricting food after about 6:30 PM and also restricting water and only taking in a little milk to take my medications and it's been sooo helpful!

New Haircut!

Yep, I cut off 6 inches! It's so super easy and cute. I love it!

Chicken strips are the devil

So John decides to finally take me to a "sports bar" since that's what I've been craving for 7+ months. No, not to drink, but I have this tremendous urge to "pretend I'm not pregnant for an hour or too". We sat outdoors at a beach called Waverly Beach and sipped Diet Coke and indulged in some chicken strips. (Okay, and a few fries too.)

Everything went great, water was beautiful, low 80's for temps, partly sunny, gorgegous. Sat right near the new tiki bar so we felt like we were in Mexico.

1 AM rolls around and I am in pain from...who guessed it...more heartburn.

WHERE IS THIS COMING FROM?! I had a terrible time sleeping but some more milk and Tums Smoothies helped. Keep in mind I'm on Rx Protonix AND maximum strength Pepcid.

Chicken strips are the devil. I downloaded a "menu" or DIET of things pg women who suffer from heartburn can eat. I am sticking to that for now....

Say goodbye marinara sauce for 12 more weeks.

Maternity Pictures!

Yeah! I am so excited to get our proofs back. Lindsey did an amazing job. We are going to have a very hard time choosing!

Maternity Pictures Taken!

I had so much fun yesterday with John while we had our maternity pictures taken. The images are going to be sooo fun to look at, I cannot wait! I brought a lot of really neat black and white outfits as well as a teal outfit too. I left the session pretty tired as I had to bend and lie down and do all these things to my belly to make it look good. Hard to explain but once I have the proofs you'll know what I mean. The photographer told me I was a natural for the camera--ha ha!! I didn't blink once! John doesn't like getting his picture taken but he was a really good sport.

...No wonder why I haven't been feeling myself--I just put a tape measure around my belly and I gained 2 inches! Two inches in a week! Ha ha!!! This is the only time in a woman's life where she can eat and not feel guilty about waist size...and eating I've done. I woke up at 1 AM last night and HAD to eat a Snickers Protein Barn (low glycemic index...high protein so good for Little Lamb.) I went back to bed, started tossing and turning, and then went to the kitchen and had a glass of milk and an apple at 2AM. I was famished! My body is doing some amazing things!

The final dress fitting for the wedding went great. The dress looks very good on and I'm excited to wear it. The good thing is that it's black so it's very classic and simple.

I started the prescription PPI (heartburn medication) since the Prilosec COMBINED with the Pepcid Extra Strength was not cutting it anymore. I am on day 3 and feeling good so far.

We are continuing to walk after dinner and I love the time that we spend peeking at all of the new houses in our neighborhood. We are also spying on new landscape ideas too as we just started with the front of our house but we have a long ways to go.

Full

Today I felt like crap. I have been having some bathroom issues (sorry TMI!) and I feel really bloated and yucky. I just took a very nice long walk and now feel better. There's soo much pressure in my stomach and to think I have three months left! This hot weather is not so easy to deal with.

This weekend I am in a friend's wedding and I'm very excited! I just saw the forecast and it should be less humid. Whew! The last thing we need is a hot and swelling Little D and Little Lamb. That would make for a crabby evening.

Last week of 2nd Tri!

I should have started writing this back in February when J and I found out we were pregnant. I can't believe that this is the last week of our 2nd trimester! It's been pretty good so far, some bumps along the way, but for the most part, we have been enjoying this special time have been having a blast getting everything ready for Little Lamb.

This week we are taking our maternity photos. Yes, it IS a little early but I am so excited about it! I want to remember cute belly photos--not ones where it looks like a beached whale is about to give birth. Ha ha...we want to have them on display at our baby shower the first week of August so now is the time. We are really excited to work with a new photographer...our wedding photographer was simply out of our price range for portrait work. Check out lindseyvanroy.com for our maternity photographer!

The nursery is pretty much ready but we need to add a mirror to the room. John needs to sand it down, prime it, and paint it an antique white to match the rest of the furniture.
